This policy describes what happens to data when you visit WoW Source at wowsrc.com. It is written to match how the site is actually built. If the site changes, this page changes with it.

The short version
- There are no user accounts, so we hold no account data.
- We do not ask you for your name, email or any other personal detail to use the site.
- The “Something wrong?” button sends only what you type into it. Nothing is sent until you press send, and every box except the first one is optional.
- We do not sell or share data, because we do not have any to sell.
- Tool settings (saved builds, chosen filters) stay in your own browser and never reach us.
- Page views are counted without cookies and without identifying anyone, which is why you are not asked to accept anything.
What the site stores in your browser
Interactive tools such as the Legacy planner and the talent calculator save your work using
localStorage in your browser. This includes things like your current build and your
display preferences.
That data:
- stays on your device,
- is never transmitted to us or anyone else,
- can be deleted at any time by clearing site data in your browser.
These are not tracking cookies and are not used to identify you.
When you tell us something is wrong
Every page carries a Something wrong? button. Nothing about it runs until you press it, and nothing leaves your browser until you press send.
What is sent is what you typed, plus:
- which page you were on, as the path, for example
/loot/the-deadmines/, - what you pointed at, if you used the pointer: the name of the row or icon and where it sits on the page. This is optional and the button works without it.
What is not sent: your name, your address, your browsing history, or anything about you the page could have read without asking. The box for a link and the box for your email are yours to leave empty. A report sent with the email box empty is anonymous, and it is just as welcome as one that is not.
Your address is not stored. Cloudflare sees it, as it does for every page you load anywhere on this site. Before a report is saved, the address is turned into a short one-way fingerprint with a secret added, which is used for one thing: noticing that twenty reports in an hour came from the same place. The fingerprint cannot be turned back into an address and cannot be matched against a fingerprint from anywhere else.
Where it goes. The report waits on Cloudflare only until the site’s own machine collects it, usually within a few hours, and is deleted there once it has been. The copy that is kept is on a private machine that nothing on the internet can reach. It is kept so that the same mistake reported twice can be recognised, and so a correction can be traced back to what prompted it.
If you gave us an email address, it is used to ask you a question about your report and for nothing else. You are never added to a list, because there is no list. It is deleted along with the report.
The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the site correct, which is also the reason you wrote in. You can ask us to delete your report at any time: write to contact@wowsrc.com and say which page it was about.
Server logs
The site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical request data (IP address, browser type, requested page, timestamp) in order to deliver pages and to block malicious traffic.
We do not build profiles from this, and we do not link it to individuals. Cloudflare acts as our processor; their handling is described in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
Analytics
We count page views using Cloudflare Web Analytics, so that we can see which pages are read and which are not. It works through a small piece of JavaScript that reports how the page performed, using the browser’s own Performance API.
What that means for you:
- No cookies are set, by us or by it. Nothing is stored on your device.
- You are not followed between sites, and no profile of you is built.
- Nothing that identifies you individually is collected. Cloudflare states that Web Analytics does not collect or use visitors’ personal data.
- We see totals: how many times a page was opened, roughly where in the world from, which site linked here, and how quickly the page loaded. Never who.
This is why there is no cookie banner on this site. A banner exists to ask permission for things we do not do, and one that asks permission for nothing is just something in your way. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy for their side of it.
Embedded content
Where a guide includes a video, we show a still image hosted on our own server instead of loading the player. Nothing is requested from the video platform until you click to play. That way visiting a page does not hand your data to a third party you did not choose.
Your rights under the GDPR
You have the right to:
- access any personal data we hold about you,
- correct it if it is wrong,
- erase it,
- restrict or object to its processing,
- receive it in a portable form,
- complain to the data protection authority in your own country, which is the one the GDPR gives you and the one best placed to act.
In practice we hold almost nothing about you, so most requests will be answered by telling you exactly that. Write to [contact@wowsrc.com] and we will respond within one month.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes and the change is noted here.
